Marta Masferrer received her BFA in Fine Art from Carnegie Mellon University and her MFA in Film Directing from Columbia University where she received the prestigious Dean's Fellowship. Since moving to Austin, Texas in 2010, Masferrer has worked as a Development Assistant for Richard Linklater's production company Detour Films, and as a filmmaker and marketing strategist in the advertising industry. In 2013, she founded SOFRITO (www.wearesofrito.com) with a specialty in marketing to Latino, women, and youth markets. In addition to her commercial and advertising work, Masferrer is an international award-winning filmmaker. Her thesis film, ASTERNAUTS, was a Berlinale finalist for the Berlin Today Award, won Best Short at Columbia University, Best Screenplay at the Porto Int'l Film Festival, Best Cinematography at the Hollyshorts Film Festival, Winner of the Special Nocicinema Film Festival, and was nominated for numerous awards including the Jerry Goldstein Award for Best Score, and Best Screenplay, Production Design and Best Comedy at the Malta International Film Festival. Masferrer is an alumnus of the NALIP Latino Producers Academy and Writer's Lab, a graduate of the UCLA Professional Screenwriters program, an AIVF Screenwriting Fellow.
